Visit St. Pete/Clearwater Showcases Exciting Drone Technology

What do you think? I guess it’s the future
New Video Features State-of-the-Art Technology Highlighting Area

St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (December 2, 2013) – Maybe you saw the news about Amazon’s plans to ship products via drones at some point in the future. Well, Amazon’s not the only organization tapping into state-of-the-art drone technology.
Drone VideoIn a new video, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater showcases a local photographer who captures images of the area like never before utilizing the unmanned radio-controlled devices.
The two systems are similar, however. Local resident Kevin Starkey is utilizing a quadcopter, a radio controlled device with four rotors, which is equipped with an onboard camera that links to flight goggles.

The result is incredible footage of parks, beaches, attractions and hotels throughout St. Pete/Clearwater from perspectives never seen before—like the photo above of the Renaissance Vinoy in downtown St. Pete. The flying device and technology goes places manned-vehicles can’t—like under tree limbs at Philippe Park or alongside buildings, and the resulting images are like none you’ve ever seen before.

See for yourself.

Parents Love St. Pete Beach and So Do I

Parents Names St. Pete Beach Among Best in U.S.
Magazine Honors ‘Sunset Capital’ as One of America’s Top 10 Beach Towns

St. Pete/Clearwater, FL (May 6, 2013) – Parents magazine has named St. Pete Beach one of America’s Top 10 Best Beach Towns for 2013.

The perennial Gulf barrier island favorite ranked St. Pete Beach third among top beach destinations, adding to the St. Pete/Clearwater area’s already stellar list of accolades—including St. Pete Beach being ranked #1 by TripAdvisor, and USA Today naming Clearwater “Florida’s Best Beach Town.”

Parents magazine, which has a circulation of 2.2 million a month, sought out beaches with the perfect combination of sand and seas, choosing St. Pete Beach as a family vacation hotspot for its incredible mix of pristine beaches, dedication to beach safety and tons of fun both on the beach and inland. Also honored in the announcement was nearby Fort De Soto Park, noted for its many family-friendly amenities, including lifeguards.

Parents magazine recognition of St. Pete Beach and Fort De Soto as top beaches proves that our area is unsurpassed when it comes to quality and hospitality,” said DT Minich, Executive Director of Visit St. Pete/Clearwater. “Families and beaches really are the two dominant keywords when marketing the destination, so this accolade is a great honor that resonates perfectly with both our brand and our visitors.”

Comparing the nation’s beaches using the Natural Resources Defense Council’s water quality reports, Parents focused on the health and cleanliness of the beach environments, narrowing down the top 100 beaches based on water quality alone. Parents‘ editors also considered the volume and quality of amenities—from the number of public restrooms and changing areas to beachside attractions—as well as the range of budget-friendly accommodations and nearby entertainment options for families.

I have been to St. Pete Beach a few times and loved it. It has beautiful white sand and crystal clear water. On one special afternoon my family and I got there to see the sunset and we were not disappointed. It was awesome and we really enjoyed the serenity of the day there. St. Pete Beach is in my TOP 2 Beaches and I’m very particular. Living here in Florida I have many choices to go to, so why do we go to St. Pete Beach  to enjoy the waves and build sandcastles. I want to thank VSPC for the info.
